Hi a friend of mine was telling me recently about a gene which some people have that gives resistance to HIV/AIDS. It's called the CCR5 delta 32 gene and I've found quite a few resources on the web which talk about it. I understand that one copy of the gene will not offer you protection from infection, but it may slow down the disease. But if you're lucky enough to have 2 copies then it can protect you against infection by many of the HIV strains that are out there. I was looking for a test and found references to delta32 gene labs. Am interested to learn more about this from someone experienced in the science of HIV infection and AIDS.
